SNAP UPDATE IN USA We’re going to be talking about SNAP benefits guys here’s the latest update so in 2024 there are five big changes that are coming to EBT benefits we’re going to be covering and SNAP UPDATE all those in this video then we’re also going to be talking about the extra SNAP benefits that for States and DC will be paying in also 2024.

We have the questions of when and how these benefits are going to be distributed right then we also have the summer e that is coming in 2024 and of course one common question would be who is eligible for these benefits and SNAP UPDATE last but not least we also have the December P date for all 50 states regarding the regular benefits.

What is the income limit for SNAP in NJ 2023?

Now let’s get right to it so here are the EBT changes that are coming in 2024 and I think the first one we can all think of it has to everything to do with the 2023 Cola adjustment now in October according to the cost of living adjustments for 2024 maximum allotments and SNAP UPDATE have increased for the 48 states and the District of Colombia Alaska Guam.

The US Virgin Islands now for instance the maximum allotment for a family of four in the the 48 states in DC will be $973 while it’s going to range pretty much from $1,248 to $1,937 in Alaska and SNAP UPDATE so meanwhile maximum allotments for a family of four in Hawaii will decrease to $1,759 now.

The minimum benefit for the 48 states in DC seems like it’s going to be remaining the same and it’s pretty much unchanged from 2023 at $23 so here are the maximum allotments in the 48 continuous States and DC from October 2023 to October 2024 and SNAP UPDATE of course this is according to the USDA.

So here’s pretty much this chart that I was able to find and it g it gives you a really good description of the household size and has everything to do of course with the maximum monthly benefits so for example um for the fiscal year of 2023 if you’re already receiving the maximum monthly benefit and SNAP UPDATE you’re one single person household.

Then you’re probably receiving $281 and if that is the case for next year if you’re still eligible for the maximum monthly benefit for fiscal year 2024 then you’re more likely to receive $291 and SNAP UPDATE you know you can pretty much see here um on the chart um regarding your household size.

What is the maximum SNAP benefit in Florida?

Let’s say you’re a household size of six for fiscal year it looked probably around $1,339 for the next fiscal year if you’re still receiving the maximum monthly benefit again then it’s going to look at $1,386 and SNAP UPDATE here we have the second change that is coming to EBT in 2024.

It has everything to do pretty much with the new income limits for SNAP eligibility now guys while we all know that snap is pretty much like a federal program and SNAP UPDATE it’s important to know that each state operates its own version and they may have different or expanded eligibility requirements.

So I always recommend for you to go back to your state and check with them right so if you’re not sure if you qualify the USDA food and SNAP UPDATE nutrition service suggest you check with your State’s program once again now if you’re wondering how do you qualify well there are three different ways to evaluate.

Is New Mexico getting PEBT 2023 SNAP UPDATE?

If you’re eligible for SNAP assistance so the first is if your net monthly income after taxes and other deductions is at 100% of the poverty level or lower again this is going to vary state by state another way to evaluate eligibility is a households gross monthly income and SNAP UPDATE which must be below 130% of the federal poverty level but in most cases according to the USDA your income must fall under both the considering the net and gross monthly income limits.

Now in households where a person is 60 years of age or older and then also unable to purchase and SNAP UPDATE prepare meal separately because of a permanent disability then it seems like the income limit is actually higher there are going to be about 165% of the poverty level.

Now assets Must Fall below certain limits households without a member age 60 or older or who has a disability must have ass assets of $2,750 or less and SNAP UPDATE households with such a member must have assets of $4,250 or less so here is a helpful document.

Is there going to be a PEBT 4.0 in California?

So I highly recommend again for to for you to double check with your state but just for reference and SNAP UPDATE here it gives you some in information regarding the net monthly income limit depending on your household size and SNAP UPDATE IN USA obviously depending on if you live in the within the 48 states .

If you live in Alaska or in Hawaii here’s table one with a net monthly income limit and here’s table two with a gross monthly income limit as well it’s again each number varies depending on your household size and then know in those situations where the gross monthly income limit.

Where a elderly disabled members are a separate household here it also gives you that information but as always I’ll be making sure to linking um these documents in the part and SNAP UPDATE now another change that is coming for EBT in 2024 has everything to do with the work work requirements.

So the fiscal responsibility act signed by President Joe Biden in June gradually increases the age of what the USDA calls able-bodied adults without dependence and SNAP UPDATE time limit and adds new groups of individuals who are accepted from the time limit.

So prior to September 18 to 50 had work requirements right so then as of October 1st these work requirements expanded to age 52 where previously was up to age 50 now it’s going to be 52 and requirements will expand to age 54 starting in October of 2024 and of course.

Did Florida get approved for P-EBT 2023?

It’s according to the USDA now there are some exemptions to the work requirements and of course I got this information from the USDA so for instance you are excused if you are unable to work due to a physical or mental limitation and SNAP UPDATE if you are pregnant if you are a veteran or homeless or age 24 or younger and in foster care on your 18th birthday now your state has an approved waiver.

The work requirements now at the moment 12 states have approved uh the time limit waivers and this includes California New York New Jersey and SNAP UPDATE the state of Illinois now if you’re interested in looking a little further into these waivers.

I would highly recommend for you to type this into your um Google search bar and then make sure you’re clicking on the USDA food and SNAP UPDATE nutrition service website which of course is going to take you right into the US Department of Agriculture so here as you can see it says AWD waivers.

You’re going to go ahead and click down to fiscal year of 2024 and as you can see here it says quarter 1 once you go ahead and click there then it gives you this document right here that it pretty much lets you know whether or not the state or the territory is approved for um these time limit.

What state has the highest SNAP benefits?

Wavers right so for example here are the states and territories approved for the Statewide time limit waivers then you have the states approve for partial Abad and SNAP UPDATE time limit waivers and last but not least you also have the states and territories without the time limit waivers.

Now this next change specifically applies to those that live in New Jersey or even in DC now as I mentioned New Jersey actually has a $95 minimum in SNAP benefits in 2024 so pretty much what happened is that every snap household in New Jersey will receive at least $95 in monthly benefits through 2024 so next year households throughout.

The country are set to receive as low as $23 in SNAP benefits every month however in February of 2023 the state legislation raised the minimum SNAP benefit in New Jersey to not $5 but again guys this was pretty much like New Jersey’s decision to do this right.

So for example if a New Jersey household is approved for less than $95 in monthly SNAP benefits then they will receive their regular Federal benefit plus an additional state and SNAP UPDATE supplement to bring them to this new minimum now DC is going to have something very similar but there is going to start taking effect this coming year in 2024 so many .

How much is EBT in California?

Washington DC residents who rely on the supplemental nutrition assistance program will soon see an increase in their monthly benefits so in an attempt to overcome the loss of emergency aid in the district legislators have passed uh the give snap of raise Amendment Act of 2022.

So the increase will take effect from January 2024 to September 2024 and will be equal to 10% of a household Federal monthly allotment now guys this isn’t permanent as of right now but DC council member Christina Henderson said that the next phase will be to pretty much figure out how to fund a permanent enhancement M now here’s another change that is coming to Food Stamp benefits.

It’s going to be specifically for three states that are pretty much choosing to participate in a pilot program where they’re going to be offering up to $60 per month to snap recipients who eat healthier and SNAP UPDATE so I thought this was a pretty nice way to have a little bit more reimbursement of those SNAP benefits so let me show you how this is going to work so the US Department of agriculture’s food and nutrition service.

Will invest $25 million to expand healthy incentives in the snap um program right otherwise known as food stamps now the FNS selected Washington Colorado and Louisiana as the first participants receiving funds to start and operate the electron chronic healthy incentives pilot which is something that was reported by the Center Square now according to the FNS these incentive programs encourage snap recipients to purchase healthy food by providing coupons discounts gift cards bonus food items or extra funds.

How much will P-EBT 3.0 be in California?

When they buy specific Foods now of course this is going to improve food and nutrition security by making it easier for SNAP households to access healthy foods so again only three states of select to pretty much start trying out this pilot program and one of those was the state of Washington so in Washington the state will be receiving 7.6 million.

Then also snap participants will receive 100% of the qualifying purchase back on their EVT card for every fruits and veggie purchase so this can be pretty much redeemed for any eligible snap food for up to $50 per month and if you’re wondering when this is going to start well the program is set to launch in January of 20 24 now something very similar is going to be happening in Louisiana as well.

Where snap recipients will receive 30 cents for every snap dollar spend on fruits and vegetables back onto their EVT card again this can be redeemed on any snap eligible purchase and their is going to be up to $25 per month for Louisiana the program is uh pretty much expected to be launched in August of 2024 and the state is also receiving $9.5 million.

Colorado is also another one of those states that is participating in this pilot program so Colorado the state will receive $7.9 million and then snap recipients who purchase qualifying fruits and vegetables using their EBT card will receive 100% of the dollar spend back on their card.

How many Californians use SNAP?

So it’s going to be like a pretty much like a reimbursement right this going to be used on any slap snap eligible purchase up to $60 per month this is something that the USDA stated in an email now if you’re wondering when this program is going to start well this program will be launched in April of 2024.

Now another change that is coming to EBT in 2024 has pretty much everything to do with the summer EBT benefits that are expected to arrive as early as May of 2024 now the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 created a permanent Nationwide summer electronic benefit transfer which is what we would call Summer EBT program.

So beginning in 2024 and Indian tribal organizations will be required to cover 50% of the summer EBT administrative expenses from non-federal sources so more than 29 million children Across America could benefit from Summer EBT each youth would receive a card loaded with $120 to help buy food during months that school is out.

So any child who is directly certified for free School meals or who has been applied for free or reduced price School meals and has been deemed eligible will qualify now guys there’s a little tweak to this States pretty much must express interest in providing summer 2024 EBT benefits to the USDA by January 1st.

So that is a deadline that the states must meet so here’s the latest update as to who has expressed interest in receiving the summer EBT benefits this is pretty much the States territories and tribal Nations that have announced their intent to launch next summer and that includes California also Illinoi.

What are the top 10 welfare states?

Here Kansas Kentucky Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Minnesota Montana New Jersey Ohio Utah Virginia and West Virginia of course we do expect for more states to be added as we move forward MH so so moving on to the snap pale dates for the month of December and guys once again.

Here we’re talking about the regular benefits right so here we have this chart remember that you can pause the video at any time if you need to look at these dates a little further on the chart we do have California December 1st through December 10th then.

There’s also the state of Alabama December 4th all the way through the 23rd and Arizona December 1st all the way through December 13th for those in the state of New Jersey your pay date for the month of December regarding the regular SNAP benefits would be anytime between December 1st all the way through December 5th.

Then for those in the state of New Mexico December 1st all the way through December 20th for Utah the December pale dates are December 5th December 11th or December 15th and then for Vermont it would be December 1st.
